Behind the Author

Susan Hailey

My writing is often described as supernatural, using a descriptive style implementing mood and tone to create a vivid experience for readers. Music is my creative muse and rely on long walks for inspiration.

Being raised in the Chicago Northwest Suburb of Buffalo Grove, I started working at the age of 9, delivering newspapers. Waking up at 4:30 in the morning each and every day to start rolling newspapers instilled a strong work ethic in my and are some of my favorite childhood memories. My red wagon was filled with papers, walking alone in the early hours - working before going to school. Nothing can take the place of memories, independently riding a red bike to the bank each Saturday, depositing a paycheck and generous tips from neighbors.

A member of the Authors Guild  and supporter of The Library of Congress, you can find me playing tennis, golf, kayaking, visiting art galleries and wineries. The environment is very important to me, including clean water availability and clean oceans.

After visiting a family member in Texas, I fell in love with the state and made Dallas my home....and yes, I've been converted to a Mavericks and Cowboys fan with coffee in hand!
